Mike Crawford is Tougher than Lightning and Dedicated to Serving and Protecting You and Your Family.

Mike Crawford is a God-fearing Patriot and a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. From New Mexico to England to Arizona, Mike has had a dedicated life of service and he is not done! As a firefighter, United States Air Force Veteran, and law enforcement officer, Mike is focused on serving and protecting you and your family. Mike is dedicated to protecting and defending your Constitutional rights and liberties.

His Early Years
Mike was born and raised in New Mexico. He served as a volunteer firefighter while in high school. During spring break of his senior year, Mike enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was a Crew Chief on KC-135s. In 1991, he completed the Non-Commissioned Officer Preparatory Course and was promoted to Sergeant. Mike was stationed in England at RAF Mildenhall where he served during the bombing of Gaddafi in Libya, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the end of the Cold War, and Desert Storm.

On July 10, 1991, it was a dark and stormy night (actually it was during the day), Mike was on a temporary duty assignment at Patrick Air Force Base in Florida. Mike was on the flight line working on his aircraft when he was struck by lightning. This is the day that God changed Mike’s path and focused him on serving in law enforcement.

His Law Enforcement Years
After Mike was struck by lightning, he received an honorable discharge from the United States Air Force and began his law enforcement career. Mike returned to New Mexico to join the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office. Mike graduated from the New Mexico State Police Academy. He honorably served as a Sheriff’s Deputy in the following roles and divisions:

– Patrol Deputy
– Special Agent in the Drug Enforcement Administration, Region II Narcotics Taskforce
– Extradition Fugitive Deputy

In 1997, Mike was hired on with the Glendale Police Department where he honorably served in the following roles and divisions:

– Police Officer in the Patrol, Special Operations and Vehicular Crimes
– Motorcycle Officer in the Traffic Division
– Police Instructor
– Field Training Officer
– Motor Instructor

In 2021, Mike retired after serving as a Firefighter, in the United States Air Force, and in Law Enforcement with over 37 years of service to his community and Country. Mike is not done and is looking forward to serving you as the Sheriff of Maricopa County.

His Family
Mike is a God-fearing Patriot. Mike is married to his wife Jamie. Together, they have three children, six grandchildren, and two puppies. They are proud to call Glendale, Arizona their home. Mike and his wife can often be found working on hot rods, off-roading, or spending time with family and friends.

Statement:

I am running for Sheriff because I believe we need to focus on ensuring the safety and well-being of our community. We must ensure a safer community in Maricopa County for the well-being of all generations. I have a commitment to bring transparency and accountability within the Sheriff’s Department to foster trust between law enforcement and the community. Investing in community programs, enhancing law enforcement efforts and promoting a stronger community we will have a better Maricopa County. My life was changed on July 10, 1991 when I was struck by lightning while working on my aircraft in the U.S. Air Force. God changed my path to prepare me to be the next Sheriff of Maricopa County.
