Biographical Info:

John Allen was born in Long Island, NY. He was raised in Port Jefferson, attending high school, running track and working in the family’s heavy equipment business.

He moved to Arizona in 1982 and began working carpentry in the home building industry. While attending Scottsdale Bible Church, he met and married Tina. They have been married 39 years this summer and have three sons and three daughters-in-law, and five grandchildren. He worked at America West Airlines in ground operations while attending ASU. He graduated from ASU with a General Business Bachelor’s degree, as well as an international business certificate.

He served 12 years in the Arizona State Legislature in many capacities, including a term as the Majority Leader, Chairman of the Audit Committee and the Judiciary Chair. In 2020 he ran successfully for the Maricopa County Treasurer’s office, and his leadership has made a positive impact in that office for the past 3.5 years.

Statement:

In 2020, I made the decision to run for the Maricopa County Treasurer’s Office. Why would anyone want to be the Maricopa County Treasurer? The Treasurer does not set the tax rate or say who should or should not have to pay them, but is the steward that collects, protects, invests and distributes the monies that are appropriated from you. It is an important job and worth doing right.

The County Treasurer’s Office had been run poorly and was in need of new leadership. The partnership with the County Board of Supervisors needed to be strengthened and core operations needed to be improved.

My time in state government was dedicated to providing conservative solutions to today’s problems and keeping government responsible to the taxpayers. I made a commitment to do that for the County Treasurer’s Office and the voters of Maricopa County believed in me and elected me in 2020 to my first term in this office.
